Optical Systems Expert (m/f/d)

Together with our R&D departments and product management, you will shape the future of our opto-mechatronic and photonic systems. In this key role, you combine technical expertise with strategic vision to develop innovative solutions for our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Driving innovation
  You lead the development and continuous optimization of our optical components and systems
• Understanding customer needs
  Through close collaboration with internal and external partners, you identify and analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Design & simulation
  As part of an experienced, well-connected team, you are responsible for the design, calculation, and simulation of complex optical systems
• R&D from technology to prototype to series production
  You continuously expand your knowledge of developments in your field, identify solution approaches, build demonstrators in laboratory setups, verify them, and support the transfer into series production up to 3rd-level support
• Sharing expertise and networking
  You develop strong technical expertise across the entire EVG product portfolio, contribute it within the matrix organization, and become the go-to expert for optics and photonics for customers, suppliers, and internal teams (Sales, Technical Procurement, Product Management, Product Integration & Process Team, Production, Service, and Training)

Requirements:

• A completed degree in a scientific field (e.g., physics, photonics, optics, precision mechanics, or electronics), preferably at PhD level
• Ideally several years of relevant industrial experience – enabling you to quickly grow into this responsible role
• Solid knowledge in the areas of illumination and laser systems, projection optics, camera systems, or optical measurement methods
• Experience with simulation software, image processing, and practical laboratory work (including UV and laser safety)
• A structured working style, strong communication skills, and enthusiasm for solving complex challenges
• Good English and German skills, and willingness to travel internationally on occasion (approx. 10–20%)

Salary:

We prefer to discuss salary in person, but we can reveal this much: We naturally align with market-standard salaries - meaning that, depending on the position and education, an above-collective agreement salary is possible right from the start. For this position, we offer an annual gross salary of at least 60.900 EUR. Depending on qualifications and experience, we can also offer more!
