10 Years of EVG Minis: Lighthouse Project for Family-friendly Workplace Celebrates Milestone Birthday - And Continues Growth

The Insiders at EV Group are not only pioneers when it comes to working on future technologies. In 2013, EVG became the first company in the Schärding district to open its own free childcare centre directly on the company premises.

Groundbreaking with a difference: construction work is underway at the "EVG Minis"! The little ones and "EVG Minis" initiator Aya Maria Thallner (co-founder and executive vice president of EV Group) are looking forward to growth. Four new group rooms are to be built by September of next year.

Focus on the family: the 10th birthday of the EVG Minis was celebrated with a big party as part of the EVG Family Day.

ST. FLORIAN, Austria, October 25, 2023—The EVG Minis celebrate their 10-year anniversary! Work, family and leisure go hand in hand at EV Group (EVG): the employees of the global high-tech company based in St. Florian am Inn benefit from flexible working hours, a sixth week's holiday and the free daycare provided by EVG Minis, the EVG company kindergarten with attached nursery. Together with Caritas Upper Austria, EVG has created an attractive play and learning environment with four group rooms, a gym and large open spaces along the River Inn for the young Insiders aged 15 months and older. The EVG Minis officially kicked off its 10th anniversary celebration in May with a big summer party as part of the EVG Family Day.

success story in ten chapters
The EVG Minis started with eight children in its first year. Today, more than 60 children are looked after in two kindergartens and two toddler groups by a total of seven primary school teachers and five pedagogical assistants. As a global company with employees from 29 nations, EVG attaches great importance to diversity from an early age: every week, the young insiders learn English through play with a native speaker.
In addition to the daily activities, there are many other highlights for the young – and old – Insiders. "Thanks to the kindergarten's central location on the EVG premises, parents can easily experience many of the wonderful moments of everyday kindergarten life. For example, we visit the EVG headquarters every year in our carnival costumes and perform a singing game," says Verena Reichl, the kindergarten's director. "Some of our children have also taken part in special tours of the EVG Academy, where they were able to see up close the products and technologies that their parents work on every day."

Expansion of childcare facilities planned
Family friendliness has always been a top priority at EVG. The idea to set up a company kindergarten came from co-founder Aya Maria Thallner. "The EVG Minis and the Summer Camp, the holiday care for schoolchildren, are now an integral part of the benefits package for employees. We want to make it as easy as possible for mothers and fathers to return to work," says Thallner, herself a mother of three.
EVG Minis is very popular and enjoys an excellent reputation in the region and beyond. This is reflected not only in the award of the 2022 Felix Familia national family prize in the large company category, but also in the forthcoming construction projects on the EVG site, including the extension of the EVG Minis building!
