FastAPI Backend Developer with a Passion for AI (m/f/d)

Primary Responsibilities:

• API-First Backend Development: Design and build modern REST and async APIs using FastAPI
• System Integration: Develop high-performance interfaces for data sources, services, and AI modules
• AI Data Pipelines: Help design and implement ETL processes to connect Machine Learning and LLM components
• Packaging Backend Solutions: Develop scalable backend components in a containerized (Docker, Linux) environment
• Testing & Optimization: Ensure performance, stability, and scalability through automated testing, profiling, and performance tuning
• Team Collaboration: Work closely in an agile team environment alongside AI specialists and software engineers

Requirements:

• A degree or training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Strong experience with Python and FastAPI, ideally also with tools like Pydantic, Uvicorn, SQLModel, etc.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, API design, and interface standards (OpenAPI/Swagger)
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle); bonus: exposure to vector databases (e.g. Qdrant, FAISS, Weaviate)
• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and modern development workflows
• Interest or hands-on experience in AI/ML, particularly with LLMs, NLP, or multimodal AI models
• A passion for clean code, collaboration, and building practical, future-ready tech
• Good communication skills and proficiency in English

Salary:

We prefer to discuss salary in person, but we can reveal this much: We naturally align with market-standard salaries - meaning that, depending on the position and education, an above-collective agreement salary is possible right from the start. For this position, we offer an annual gross salary of at least 47.600 EUR. Depending on qualifications and experience, we can also offer more!
