High Brightness LEDs

LEDs (light emitting diodes) are light sources based on semiconductor devices. LEDs are used for a broad range of applications, such as backlight illumination of mobile phones or displays, traffic signals with low maintenance, car head lamps and rear lights, head-up displays, projectors and general illumination. They offer a number of advantages compared to other light sources, including long life time, low total life cycle costs, compact size, easy implementation into end devices, and particularly, very high efficiency. The use of LEDs for illumination can save up to 85 % in energy consumption compared to standard light sources, offering the potential to reduce about 15 % of the total worldwide energy consumption if all standard light sources were substituted.

Brisbane Materials Technology (BMT) and EVG have developed a partnership to provide a total solution - equipment plus materials - for anti-reflective coatings for Wafer Level Optics, Lenses, Photonic Devices, LED's and other applications. BMT supplies the liquid precursor material and cure chemistry to the customer, while EVG provides all the necessary process steps in an integrated equipment solution set, leveraging their 15+ years of experience in technologies to coat, cure and test nano-scale materials.

BMT's patented technology creates a porous film of graded refractive index silica from a liquid precursor at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The coating is chemically bonded to the surface for optimum durability and performance.

This AR solution provides a broadband optical coating that is invariant for a high angular distribution of light. Besides optimized light absorption, the coating also leverages optical emission properties. 

Because the AR Coating is applied at room temperature, it can be used in essentially all temperature critical, compound applications or plastic parts.
