Flexible electronic products consist of electronic circuits mounted on flexible plastic substrates. Among several products, such as flexible organic solar cells or flexible electronic packages, flexible displays are of particular interest for consumer applications as they aim to replace paper and allow for easy transport and use of electronic documents.

Flexible displays are displays that feature high contrast and low-power consumption in a flexible, thin, lightweight form. Power is only required to change the display image. These displays consist of thin-film organic transistors on flexible plastic materials and appear as paper-like computer displays. The intended applications for flexible displays are professional solutions as well as consumer products such as e-books.
